I’d like to introduce the newest member here at Norine’s Nest. She is my alter ego Frazzled Frannie! I asked my dear friend Brenda if she could come up with a picture I could use when posting my personal stories here on the Nest. Somehow it just doesn’t seem fair that every other category get’s to hog all the photo’s and “Norine’s Notes” is left out! Since most of my stories leave me completely frazzled, (that may be the biggest understatement I have EVER made!), I wanted my alter ego to look EXACTLY how I feel after one of my crazy adventures! Doesn’t poor Frannie look frazzled?! Brenda did an amazing job! I was positively giddy last night when she sent her to me! Thank you Brenda! Your talent is amazing!

In my family growing up, strawberry shortcake was not a dessert! Say What?! You read that right! Grandpa Howard insisted that strawberry shortcake was, in fact, the main course! (There’s a man after my own heart!) So, if you happened to come on a night strawberry shortcake was being served, you best not be looking for chicken and potatoes, because there was none to be had!

We all have that “one” embarrassing moment in our lives that we would love to forget. You know the one where you’re praying the earth will open up and swallow you whole so that you never have to be seen again? Yep, that one. If you only have one…well, aren’t you lucky! I’ve often said that when God needs a laugh he pulls up his recliner and clicks onto my life channel. This was one such episode…

I was contemplating what to post for my very first main dish recipe here at “Norine’s Nest”? Immediately I thought of the dish that captured my hubs heart long before I did! (Truth be told, I’m pretty sure this sealed the deal of heart capturing! Yeah, it’s THAT good!) Chicken broccoli casserole is just one of those super wonderful comfort foods. Right up there with mac-n-cheese (The real kind!) and fresh hot homemade bread with melted butter! The flavors in this dish are out of this world! My mom made this casserole for our family as I was growing up, and I made it for my birds. I still make it! Even with all the little birds gone!

Is there anything cuter, in all the land, than little baby feet? I just love to pop off little “B’s” socks and peek at those cute little wiggly piggly’s. I love her cute little toes! (Well, admittedly I love every little inch of her, but today we are talking hands and feet!) I’ve been itching to do some canvas prints of her little piggy’s and chubby hands! So, I used that excuse to invite my girls over for a morning of crafting! Trust me when I say it takes two grown adults, to one wiggly 6 month old, to pull this craft off!

It’s Spring! One thing I absolutely love about spring are all the fresh strawberries you can find in your local market. They’re screaming “Hey! We’re over here!”. Admit it! Your cart just automatically pulls over in their direction.I grew up in a small town in San Diego County, California. We were surrounded by strawberry fields! One of things I miss about California, besides the ocean, are those wonderful red gems of juicy fruit! Every spring I would watch those specks of red starting to dot the hillsides. It was glorious! I just knew that any day, I would get to go to the strawberry stand with my Mom and pick up a flat of berries. I also knew I would sneak one, bite into it, and have the juice just run down my chin! (I might actually be drooling right now!) There is nothing like giant, fresh picked, strawberries! I’m pretty sure there are going to be fresh strawberry stands in heaven! There has to be if it’s going to heaven for heaven’s sake!
