I love this blogging life! Maybe it’s because I love sharing my passion for cooking, crafting, party planning, and life? Maybe it’s because I love meeting new people and interacting with friends who share the same passions for life I do? (Mars tells me all the time I’m a VERY social and open person! I’m sure he wishes I wasn’t quite so open! lol) Maybe it’s all of the above! One of the things I really, really, really love is when a reader asks me for a recipe, tip, or idea!
I love it SO much I’m starting something new here at the Nest!!! It’s….Talk Ta’me Tuesdays! Every Tuesday you can log onto the Nest and comment, you’ll see a new post with Frazzled Frannie, or our Facebook page, and chat with me! If you’d like me to blog about a particular recipe, topic, or craft in an upcoming blog just ask. If you’re looking for a tip…pick my brain! If you’re a new mommy struggling and want to know how I dealt with it when my kids were little,…just ask me! (I’m no Pro but…my kids are all still alive and I’m not in prison! WTG me!!!) If you’re a new Empty Nester struggling with the adjustment…I’m here for ya! It’s going to be so much fun! I’m super excited about this new “chat” time with my Nest Friends!
Today I had a friend, in the comment section, ask me to share my Guacamole recipe. I decided to celebrate our upcoming new “Talk Ta’me Tuesdays” I’d do just that. It’s super simple and really easy!
I’ll admit I didn’t start out a Guacamole lover! That changed really quickly though when I dipped my first chip! My husband’s family had a 20 acre Avocado Ranch! It was kind of a given that at some point I was going to learn to love the stuff! Honestly I can’t believe there was ever a time I didn’t like it. It’s SO good!
For my guacamole, I use 2-3 Avocado’s. I cut them in half, pit them, and peel them. Then I place the halves into a large bowl. I do this really “weird” thing to “mush” my Avo’s. (Yep, I do weird things!) I take a sharp pairing knife and I cut, cut, cut, cut (whew that’s a lot of cutting) that avocado while it’s in the bowl. I just keep slicing through the beautiful creamy green meat until it’s diced up teeny tiny. (If I’m doing a super large batch I use the potato masher!) Then I use a regular dinner fork to finish the “mushing” process! ( I may love the word “Mush” too much. Thus the over use of it! lol) Once I have the consistency I want, which is somewhere between smooth, yet slight chunky, I add about 1/2 tsp garlic salt, 1/4 tsp cracked pepper, and a big heaping spoonful of my fresh salsa! Then I stir it all together.
Ta-Da!!! That’s it! This picture perfectly illustrates what I mean about the texture. It also depicts how it should look when you are finished. The onions, cilantro, tomato, bell pepper and seasonings from the fresh salsa add such a heavenly flavor to this Guacamole you’ll want a straw to slurp it down!
Now all we need is a great big bag of our favorite corn chips! I could seriously just eat chips and this dip for lunch, dinner, or a snack! Enjoy!
