Hi Bob!
I appreciate your input. I do have a non-stick waffle Iron and I do add vegetable oil to my regular waffle mix and it sticks every time if I don’t spray my waffle iron. I have two different irons, made by two different manufacturers and every single time, if I don’t spray the iron with non-stick spray…they stick and make a horrible mess. Maybe it’s just me? That’s so weird. I don’t doubt your knowledge of waffle irons…it’s just not been my experience. Thanks so much for sharing with my readers though. I sincerely appreciate it.

The more spray used, the less crisp. IF you are using an iron with non-stick plates, you may not want to spray. It will coat the non-stick plates and will on the next use of the iron, cause it to stick. Consult your iron manufacturer’s recommendations. (Hint, not sure if it messes up your plans, but vegetable oil added to the mix will help prevent sticking)
