Delicious! Loved using dry and fresh cranberries. I added extra orange zest, fresh cranberries, and heavy cream to the batter and it turned out perfect! I’d attach a picture if it was allowed. Thank you for the recipe! Merry Christmas!

Hi Bill!
Yes you’re right they generally rise about 1/2 inch to make them an inch tall. Let me think…One of three things come to mind. Is your baking powder fresh? If it is old it can result in a “non-rise” in bake goods. Was the butter cold and cut in to create a fine crumb? (I’m sure it was, but I do have to ask) Lastly how thick did you pat out the dough? It should be at least a half-inch thick before cutting. Then they rise another 1/2 inch during baking. Other than that, I’m not really sure. Are you at a high altitude?
Let me know if any of this helps. So sorry you didn’t get the results you wanted. I love this recipe and have made it numerous times with great results.

Norene, I followed your recipe as close as I could and everything was with identical results through the cutting of dough through baking. My problem resulted when I removed them from the oven. They had only raised approximately 1/4” as opposed to the picture in Pentarest (APROX 1/2 “). They tasted great but we’re almost flat. What did I possibly do wrong. Thnx in advance.

I’m at a higher altitude, about 6000 feet and I don’t do anything different. I think you’ll be okay. Thanks for trying this recipe. I absolutely love it.

These are the best scones ever! I’m going to be at about 8000 ft altitude for the summer. Do I need to make adjustments for high altitude?
