Several weeks ago as I was scrolling through Instagram, up popped a photo of these delicious double chocolate chip cookies! (Que instant drooling) They were ooey and gooey…and CHOCOLATE !

Just what the doctor ordered! Well…the chocolate doctor…not sure how my actual doctor would feel about it! (Actually I do know how he’d feel about it…he’d be right there next to me chowing down on them!)

Anywho…up popped this photo…drool began flowing…and I knew I had to make them! ASAP! This was not a wait and make ’em later kind of cookie craving. This was a “I want it NOW” cookie craving!

One of the things I love about this recipe…is that it only requires 5 ingredients. The main ingredient is a cake mix! Which is great if your running low of flour and sugar. It’s all in that little box of cake mix. It doesn’t get any better than that. Right?

Another bonus is that it’s the perfect recipe for littles to help with! I had a little helper the day I made this batch…her only complaint was that the dough is “Really sticky Grandma!”.

That’s why she had to keep licking her fingers (or so she claimed through her giggles and licking!)! Lol I like the way she thinks! (Sniff, sniff… She’s growing up too fast! Oh, how I love this girl!)

Let’s get busy and whip up a batch of these yummy chocolate cookies! If you’re a chocolate lover, like myself, you’ll love them as much as I do!

How To Make Easy Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

In the bowl of a stand mixer, or in a large mixing bowl, add one Duncan Hines (15.25 oz) Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix.

TIP: You can use a devil’s food cake mix or another chocolate cake mix. Mr. Nest loves dark chocolate…so I used a Dark Chocolate Cake Mix!

One dark chocolate fudge cake mix in mixing bowl of mixer

Add 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 large eggs (Be sure to crack those eggs and discard the shells! I hate when little bits of shell get stuck in my gums! This is just a suggestion…one I highly recommend…but you do you! I won’t judge.)

adding butter, vanilla, and eggs to cake mix in bowl of mixer

Mix until combined. Don’t let that sticky dough scare ya!

Stir in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips! I may have tossed in a few extra! I don’t think you can ever have too many chocolate chips. These are after all…therapy cookies! All women know…chocolate cures what ails ya!

Cookie dough batter mixed in mixing bowl.

Chill the dough for 30 minutes! This will make the dough “less” sticky when you roll it into balls.

Roll 2 tablespoons of chocolate cookie dough into 1 1/2 inch balls and place about two inches apart, on two parchment or silicone lined baking sheets.

TIP: Pop a few chocolate chips on top of each dough ball. It makes the cookies look all fancy and purty!

Preheat oven to 350°. Bake the cookies for 10 – 12 minutes. The tops of the cookies should no longer be glossy, and they should be slightly cracked!

Allow the cookies to cool slightly. Once the cookies are slightly cool, move to a cooling rack to finish cooling. As they cool they will “set-up” and become more firm.

This recipe will make about 2 dozen cookies. That’s 24 little chewy discs of joy! That’s all there is to it! A quick easy and deliciously decadent cookie!

There are lots of Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie recipes out there…but these are a truly “Dreamy double chocolate chip cookie”! Completely drool worthy! I know because I tasted a LOT of them to make sure.
