I’m going to be busy in the kitchen cooking up a storm preparing for the “Big Day”! I’m sure I’ll have prepared way too much food and the refrigerator will be stuffed with leftovers. When we’re tired of Turkey Sandwiches, and reheated Turkey dinner…I’ll whip up this delicious comforting Leftover Thanksgiving Casserole. The addition of White sauce and Swiss Cheese changes it up just enough to make all those leftovers new and exciting!
Holiday Dishes
Still not sure what your serving for dessert on the “Big Day”! No worries…I’ve put together a collection of my Nest’s favorite holiday desserts. From fancy to simple and everything in-between. Whether you’re a first time baker, or a pro…my step-by-step instructions and recipes will help. They’re all here and waiting for you to come pick your favorite!
This time of year is the BEST time to bake! The smells that come wafting out of your kitchen are magical! Cinnamon, Clove, Allspice, Cranberry, Orange, Pumpkin…the list is long my friends! I’ve taken this classic Cranberry Orange Cake and updated it by adding an amazing Warm Buttery Orange Sauce! Serve this cake warm, with a healthy drizzle of that warm buttery orange sauce, and WOW your guests this Holiday Season!
Not to sound like a broken record…but…the side dishes make the meal! Seriously! What is Turkey without stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, candied yams, homemade buttery rolls, and all your favorite holiday salads? It’s just a big awkward bird sitting in the middle of your dinning table! Oh sure…the “Turkey” got an honorable mention in “Scrooge”…but only because this salad wasn’t on menu! If it was…he would have leaned out the window and asked the boy to go “Fetch” him the pan of Cranberry Orange Jello Salad! Then even that crabby miser could have won my heart!
Are you tired of dried out bland Turkey every year at Thanksgiving? So was I! I had had it! I’ve spent the last 4 years perfecting my Turkey recipe. I did it too! I have the BEST recipe for Turkey. I promise if you’ll follow my steps you’ll have the perfect Turkey this Holiday Season too. It’s so tender you can cut it with a fork, and it’s so moist it melts in your mouth…plus, it’s so flavorful you’ll swoon! Kinda like the Turkey did when he saw the farmer coming with that really big knife!
There’s still time to whip up a last minute Halloween Treat! Like these ultra easy and fantastically delicious caramel chocolate dipped monster pretzels! They’re like a magical spooky candy wand. Careful! They may put a spell on you!
I love the tastes and smells of Fall! This cake is one of my favorite annual traditions and it started years ago with one of my aprons. That’s right..my Apron! What? Doesn’t your Apron give you delicious cake recipes? Hmmm…maybe mine is magical? Okay it’s not really magical…but this recipe is!
I’m ready for big beautiful orange pumpkins, red and yellow leaves, orchard fresh apples, apple cider, and the cool crisp air of Fall! Please dear powers that be…give me the cool crisp air of Fall…and a big thick slice of this amazingly yummy Dutch Apple Pie… with all of the tantalizing flavors this season has to offer!
I love the “new” poke cake fad. I think I love it because it’s like platform shoes, converse tennis shoes, bell bottom pants, swing dancing, or any fad that comes and goes…and comes back again! It reminds us of happy memories and good times. I think I was 8 when I had my first bite of “poke” cake. It was AMAZING! Only we didn’t call it “poke” cake. Times were simpler then…we just called it “Yum Yum Cake”. Why? Cause it was Yummy! It’s still one of my all time favorite cakes! I’ve changed things up a bit to give it a fun 4th of July look, but truthfully…it’s heavenly any time your lucky enough to have a piece.
For two years I’ve been drooling over this Cheesecake. I decided it was high time I actually make it! So I did! It’s every bit as good as it looks. If you love cheesecake as much as I love cheesecake…you need to make this masterpiece! I think my husband may have made himself sick on this cheesecake he ate so much of it. (That my friends is an endorsement you can take to the bank!) Oh…and don’t let the Amaretto scare you off! Remember you can always “bring a cup of it to a boil to bake off the alcohol, if you don’t drink, and all you’re left with is the warm rich flavors of Amaretto. I do this all the time and leave a container of it in my spice cupboard for baking.
